Step-by-Step Instructions on Chevy Key Fob Programming

If you’re looking to program your Chevy remote start key fob, follow these steps:

  1. Use your Chevy key to manually unlock your car door.
  2. Make sure all of your car doors are completely shut, insert the key into the ignition, but do not start the car.
  3. Press and hold the unlock button on the driver’s side door, then turn your key to the “On” position. The interior lights and radio will come on, but the engine should not be ignited.
  4. Turn the key back to the “Off” position, then turn it to “On” and right back to “Off” once again in quick succession. (On – Off – On – Off)
  5. Release the unlock button.
  6. After releasing the unlock button, you should hear the door locks engage and disengage, telling you that the programming sequence can begin.
  7. Press and hold the “Unlock” and “Lock” button on your Chevy key fob, simultaneously

until you hear the door locks engage and disengage again. This will indicate that you have successfully programmed your key fob.

  1. Re-insert the newly programmed key into the ignition in the “On” position to end the programming sequence.

Whether you have a Chevy Silverado key fob or a Chevy Malibu key fob, you can follow these easy steps to program it.
